Recently my husband sent me a link to a news article about Baobab Oil and Tamanu Oil: two different 100% natural oils that have powerful ant-aging effects on the skin. He made sure to assure me, “I’m not saying you need anti-aging oils, I just know you’re interested in natural beauty approaches”.   Nice save there, honey.

But yes, this is indeed an interest of mine. I have found that many natural oils have incredible benefits on the skin, including powerful anti-aging benefits, at fractions of the price of what cosmetic skin creams are sold for, and without the dangerous and toxic chemicals that often are contained in those expensive creams.

So I did a little more investigating and immediately purchased some Baobab Oil and Tamanu Oil to add to my personal skin care regime.

Baobab Oil

This ancient oil has been known for centuries and used by Africans to protect their skin from the harsh Savanna environment. It does wonders for dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skin. Baobab is a luxurious oil, rich in palmitic, stearic, arachidonic saturated fatty acids, oleic, linoleic, linolenic unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins A, D, E, F, powerful antioxidants, and renowned for its exceptional moisturizing, nourishing, emollient, soothing, healing, anti-inflammatory, regenerative, and rejuvenating properties. Vitamins A, D, E, F in baobab oil protect against free radicals and revitalize the skin, omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids deeply moisturize and nourish dry and damaged skin, making its soft, smooth, and supple, improving skin tone, elasticity, and complexion, preventing dryness and dehydration, encouraging cell renewal and regeneration, protecting against premature aging.

Absorbing quickly without leaving a greasy residue or clogging pores, baobab oil is capable of calming itching, reducing irritation and inflammation, facilitating the healing of small wounds, cuts, burns, sore and chapped lips, fighting acne, blemishes, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, preventing and reducing scarring and stretch marks, alleviating pain caused by sunburn and peeling skin, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, restoring luster to dull, dry, and lifeless hair, as well as protecting against the ruthless summer sun.

Said a reviewer: “The first time I applied this oil to my face I immediately felt a profound and long-lasting moisturizing effect on my dry and dehydrated skin. I was amazed. After using it for a while I’ve noticed that my complexion has improved, my skin is softer and smoother and has a healthy glow, redness and inflammation is gone, my scalp is no longer dry, itchy, and flaky, my hair is healthier, some fine lines have faded. After using it for several weeks I have noticed visible results, my skin looks smoother and healthier and pigmentation has been reduced. The results were noticeable not only to me but to others.”

(Husband sent me this link, then I found the oil at iHerb.com).

Baobab seed oil—which is rich in antioxidants like Vitamin A (the key ingredient in retinol-based face creams)—boosts skin elasticity and encourages cell regeneration. “The baobab fruit contains more calcium than two pints of milk, more vitamin C than six oranges, and more iron than red meat,” says Simon Jackson, extolling the virtues of the skincare ingredient that’s shaping up to be beauty’s next breakout star. A doctor of pharmacognosy, or the study of medicines derived from natural sources, Jackson has traveled to far-flung corners of the planet like the rainforests of the Amazon and Indonesia in the service of his research. So what exactly led the British-born scientist on a skincare expedition to the roots of the baobab tree? The fact is, women across the continent have been tapping into the healing properties of the seed oil to protect their skin and hair from the harsh environments for centuries.

Tamanu Oil

For eczema and for erasing scars. I’m completely pleased in both aspects. It helps to stop itchiness due to eczema almost immediately, and even reduces it. About scars, I’m just seeing a very positive improvement after several weeks of using it.

 Argan Oil

Some say this oil “stinks”, others call it “nutty”.  However the smell is no reason to lose out on the goodness of Argan oil. Pump a little in your hand, and add in 2 drops of sweet orange essential oil. It smells great.

This soft, gentle, non-comedogenic oil suitable for all skin and hair types, including sensitive, acne-prone and mature, with a pleasant slightly nutty aroma is one of the rarest oils in the world and known in Morocco as the “oil of life”, and for good reason – its composition and properties are unique and superior to those of other plant oils. Argan oil contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids (oleic, linoleic, linolenic), 18% saturated oils (palmitic and stearic), which makes it more resistant to oxidation than olive oil, and is very high in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant helping neutralize free radicals, restore the skin’s hydrolipid balance and prevent premature aging, which is particularly important for people living in harsh and polluted environments. And that’s not the only unique thing about argan oil – it also contains carotenes, squalene and triterpenoid saponins known for their emollient, soothing, healing, anti-inflammatory, disinfectant and sun-protective properties, plant sterols reducing irritation and inflammation, calming itching, deeply moisturizing and nourishing dry, damaged and sensitive skin, making it softer, smoother and more supple, improving skin tone, elasticity and complexion, preventing dryness and dehydration, and flavonoids encouraging cell renewal and regeneration, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, scarring and stretch marks, restoring luster to dull, dry and lifeless hair. Due to its unique phytosterol composition it’s especially effective in treating such conditions as acne, blemishes, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, chickenpox, dermatitis, as well as healing small wounds, cuts, burns and alleviating pain caused by sunburn and peeling skin. In addition to its cosmetic uses, argan oil is a culinary oil with a lot of health benefits as well: it lowers cholesterol levels by blocking cholesterol absorption from the intestines, facilitates digestion by increasing the concentration of pepsin in the gastric juice, reduces inflammation by soothing the stomach lining, stimulates blood circulation, protects against heart disease, boosts the immune system. I’ve been using this organic argan oil only for a few weeks, by the results speak for themselves: my complexion has improved, my skin is softer and smoother and has a healthy glow, my acne has cleared up, redness and inflammation is gone, some fine lines have faded, my scalp is no longer dry, itchy and flaky, my hair is healthier.

I use this in my hot oil treatment and It’s made my natural hair a lot thicker actually.

Very good, use it for my fine lines under the eyes. Combine it with astaxanthin Benefits and you get good results.

Kigelia fruit

Kigelia fruit is often used as a skin brightener. For those who suffer from hyperpigmentation, its naturally occurring melanin inhibitors are a welcome alternative to harsh bleaching agents. Can not locate this on iHerb.
