Dandelion Tea – Weight Loss, Diuretic; Detox Kidney, Liver, Gallbladder
Dandelion tea is widely reported to be helpful for weight loss. It is a diuretic so it makes sense. It is also an effective way to detox the kidney, liver, and/or gallbladder.
One cup of dandelion tea won’t do it though. You’ll need to drink it throughout the day and do so for 7 days. Because it us a diuretic it is best not to use it at this rate beyond 7 days, though a cup a day is fine if you simply enjoy it.
To know how much dandelion tea you need to drink for weight loss or diuretic purposes, divide your weight in half, and drink that amount in ounces each day. So if you weigh 160, divide that in half and you get 80. So you need to drink 80 ounces of dandelion tea in the day. That’s 10 eight ounce glasses.
That same calculation applies to healthy water consumption in general (dandelion tea counts towards your daily water consumption, as long as you don’t add sweetener). Certainly, if weight loss is you objective, consume half your weight in ounces of water per day.
Whether you are trying to lose weight or not, to maintain good health, the body needs water. The body is comprised of mainly water to begin with (80-90% of the body is water), so you need to continually be supplying and replenishing the body with water to maintain good health and keep all systems functioning well.
To enhance the flavor of dandelion tea, add a little lit of fresh lemon juice. The lemon juice will also enhance the weight loss and detox effects because lemon juice is in itself a natural weight loss aid and detoxifier.
Some comments I’ve found in my research on Dandelion Tea:
“I was recently dx’d w/gallstones, many of them and large ones. I was having the worst gallbladder attack and I was sure I would require gb removal. I started drinking 4-6 cups of dandelion tea (3 bags) a day and I haven’t had pain since despite the fact I am on a VLCD at present! I don’t know if the dandelion tea helps to dissolve stones, but it must be doing something to normalize gb functioning because the kind of pain I was experiencing does not just go away on its own accord. I swear by dandelion tea and will not be w/out it again!!!!”
